01 Seesaw Overview

Thank you for joining me in this course to learn how Seesaw can be integrated into your classroom, PreK-12. My name is Christine Danhoff and I am the PreK-12 Technology Integration Specialist at Genoa Area Local Schools in Genoa, Ohio. I'll be sharing with you resources and ideas of how you can get started with and utilizing Seesaw in your classroom. My goals for you by the end of this course is that you will be able to successfully create a Seesaw class with students, add a few journal posts, assign an activity from the library or create your own activity for students, and understand how to set up family invites and announcements.

Before we begin, I would like to explain WHAT Seesaw is and WHY it can be beneficial to you and your students.

WHAT is Seesaw?

Seesaw is a digital portfolio that collects students’ digital and physical work in one place. Everything is organized, making assessment and conferences easier! It is also a space that each student can own.  Built-in tools make it easy for students to capture their learning, reflect, and develop new skills. Seesaw also includes a parent communication tool that seamlessly shares what’s going on in your classroom and builds a strong school-home community.

WHY use Seesaw?

Seesaw can be a great tool to empower your students to be creators and share their voice. Seesaw empowers students to document their learning as it happens, develops students’ writing skills, reflection skills and critical thinking skills, provides educators an organized way to share digital creations and classroom activities, and it creates a strong community around learning by involving families.
